Coordinator - Planning & Zoning

Orion Township is accepting applications with cover letter and resume for full-time (40 hours per week) Coordinator – Planning & Zoning. Duties include variety of secretarial and administrative support duties such as coordinating intake and processing of applications, processing and monitoring letters of credit, assisting public and Board members. Proficient typing, basic accounting and mathematical computations, and word processing skills required.

Applicants must be able to establish effective working relationships with both the public and other Township departments, meet strict deadlines, and perform a variety of clerical skills. Ability to multi-task and work well in high pressure environment. Applicants must have excellent communication skills. Job qualifications include knowledge normally acquired through completion of an Associates Degree or comparable college/business program in Secretarial Science or Business Administration, two to four years of experience in planning and zoning or related field, computer skills in word processing, database and spreadsheet applications, mental ability to handle pressures when dealing with concerns of the public and contractors, and physical ability to work at a counter and lift boxes of files weighing up to 30 pounds. Occasional need to perform duties that require work outside of the office in an environment exposed to the elements. This is a Level 6 Technical Union position. Start rate is $19.21 per hour (non-negotiable), plus benefits, for 40 hours per week.

Paid on Call Firefighters

Applications are being accepted to become a Volunteer Paid-On-Call Firefighter with the Orion Township Fire Department. If accepted we will conduct a thorough background check, physical with drug screening, criminal history and driving check before you will be enrolled in an agility test a State Certified Fire Academy, Basic Emergency Technician School and upon successful complication of each we will provide you with Firefighting equipment and a pager to be able to respond to emergencies. This is a very time consuming job that requires dedication and willingness to help your community and neighbors but the sacrifice and hours away from your family reaps many rewards.
