The ONTV Board of Directors oversees the management of the ONTV studio. The Board meets at 7:00 pm on the second Wednesday of odd months at the ONTV studio. The meetings are open to the public.
If you would like to learn how to produce your own programs or simply crew for ONTV, the first step is a one hour orientation. Orientations are scheduled for the last week of each month. Please call or see the website for specific days and times. Although orientation is free, you will need to call or email to reserve a seat.
ONTV offers classes in field production and studio production to residents who have completed orientation. The fee for each class is $10.
Field Production Class (four sessions) – Residents learn how to use the ONTV camcorders, tripods, and microphones. Shot composition, story boards, and non-linear editing are also covered. Once the class is successfully completed, equipment can be checked out, at no cost, to create programs for ONTV.
Studio Production Class (five sessions) – All crew positions are covered in this class: Director, Technical Director, Audio, Character Generator, Camera Operator, and Floor Director. In the final class session, class members produce a program that plays on ONTV, Orion’s public access channel. Once trained in studio production, residents are able to gather crew from other certified ONTV volunteers and book the studio to create a program.
Certified volunteers are eligible to crew for programs produced by ONTV, such as graduation, concerts in the park, the sports series, and more.
The computer-generated message board that runs between programs on Public Access displays information about community events and resources. Non-profit groups can have a message run on the channel at no cost. Email firstname.lastname@example.org
Local government meetings are cablecast on Orion’s government access (Channel 20 on the Comcast system). The computer-generated message board that runs between meetings displays agenda for local government meetings and other important information provided by the Township and Village offices, and the Lake Orion Police Department.

Orion’s education channel (Comcast 22) runs a message board with information and a calendar of events for each school in the district. School Board meetings are cablecast and then archived for On Demand playback through the website.
